Where he developed transgenic mouse models of translocation-associated sarcomas with Nobel laureate, Dr. Mario Capecchi. He received his MD and his PhD through the medical scientist training program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Where he secured a Ruth L.\u00a0Kirschstein\u00a0National Research Service Award F30 grant. His dissertation advanced personalized medicine in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma by defining the genetic landscape of HNSCC and helping to develop therapeutic approaches based on genetic alterations in patient tumors. He completed an anatomic pathology residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and a dermatopathology fellowship at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Hedberg\u2019s clinical and research interests include cutaneous oncology, immunology and dermatopathology. Dr. Hedberg evaluates dermatopathology specimens at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, while also conducting basic science research in immune editing and immunosurveillance in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma\u00a0<em>in situ<\/em>; with the goal of developing immunomodulatory chemoprophylaxis. Dr. Hedberg is a\u00a0Waine C.
