Dana Graves, DDS, DMSc
Professor
Director, Doctor of Science in Dentistry Program
Vice Dean for Scholarship and Research
Department of Periodontics
School of Dental Medicine
About the Lab:
The Graves lab studies the role of inflammation and diabetes on tissue regeneration and wound healing. Specifically, in the skin, a major project in the lab is to dissect the mechanisms whereby FOXO1, a transcription factor expressed by keratinocytes with important roles in adipogenesis and insulin signaling, delays healing in diabetes.
Training Information:
Dr. Graves has been the dissertation advisor to 24 predoctoral students, 15 of whom entered academics upon graduating. In addition, he has mentored over 25 postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars from other countries. Dr. Grave’s trainees receive training in wound healing and regenerative biology.
