Jianxin You, PhD
Associate Professor
Department of Microbiology
Perelman School of Medicine
About the Lab:
Research in the You lab studies cellular transformation induced by DNA tumor viruses and cancer-associated genetic mutations. The overall research goal is to understand how the molecular interplay between tumorigenic viruses and their host targets leads to cancers. Two oncogenic DNA tumor viruses of particular relevance to the skin are investigated: human papillomavirus (HPV) and Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCV or MCPyV). MCV has been linked to the development of Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC), a highly aggressive form of skin cancer.
Training Information:
Dr. You provides training in the areas of viral and cellular oncology, and has successfully mentored 6 predoctoral and 7 postdoctoral trainees in her lab.
