About the Lab:

Dr. Takeshita’s primary research focus is the study of health and health care disparities in dermatology, particularly psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. She received a K23 award from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases to study racial disparities in the treatment of psoriasis using both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Dr. Takeshita can provide training in quantitative methods including utilization of large databases such as administrative claims, nationwide population-based data, electronic medical records databases, and registry data for epidemiologic and health services research. Dr. Takeshita also collaborates with basic researchers on translational studies related to psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.

Training Information:

Dr. Takeshita is committed to training and mentoring the next generation of health disparities researchers. She has mentored 10+ trainees thus far at various levels of experience ranging from high school students to post-doctoral fellows. Previous trainees are currently in medical school, dermatology residency, or leading their own research programs as academic faculty.
