Biography
Charissa Obeng-Nyarko earned a Bachelor of Science at Florida A & M University and a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Florida State University College of Medicine. Soon after, she became a medical student at Florida State University College of Medicine.
She joined the University of Pennsylvania as a Fellow in Skin of Color Dermatology under the mentorship of Dr. Susan C. Taylor and Dr. Temitayo Ogunleye. Charissa has interests including skin of color dermatology, complex medical dermatology, derm-infectious diseases, and procedural dermatology. She is passionate about harnessing cultural competence, clinical research, and community outreach to serve diverse patient populations.
A champion for mentorship, Charissa serves as a mentor to others, especially women and girls pursuing careers in medicine and STEM fields. In her free time, Charissa enjoys reading fiction, dance fitness, caring for her plants, and all things beauty and fashion.
