Biography

Dr. Fritzlaine Roche attended college at Wesleyan University and majored in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry through the sponsorship of the QuestBridge Scholarship Program. After college, she returned home to Kansas City to serve as a high school teacher in her former public school system through the Teach for America program. During this time, she earned a master’s degree in chemistry with a thesis distinction at the University of Texas-Arlington. She subsequently matriculated to medical school at the University Of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, where she was introduced to the specialty of dermatology after volunteering at the student-run free health clinic. She completed the Fellowship in Skin of Color between her third and fourth year of medical school. Her research explored the epidemiology, etiology, and treatment of central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia.

The Fellowship in SOC experience affirmed her motivation to pursue a career dermatology, a field in which she continues to advocate for underserved communities through community outreach and research. Dr. Fritzlaine successfully matched to Washington University in St. Louis for her residency.  She is involved in the Advocacy/Global Health pathway at Washington University and conducts clinical research in hair loss and follicular disorders.
