Biography

Originally from the west side of Chicago, Tiaranesha Jackson is the first of her immediate family to graduate from high school. She was selected as a member of the distinguished Gates Millennium Scholars program to pursue higher education. After obtaining her B.S. in nanomedical engineering from the University of Virginia, Tiara received her MPH in epidemiology from the University Of Texas Health Science Center School Of Public Health. She returned home to Illinois to pursue her medical degree and became interested in dermatology after random placement in a dermatology clinic as part of her school’s curriculum for early clinical exposure.

After completing her third year of medical school, Tiara joined the University of Pennsylvania as a Research Fellow in Skin of Color Dermatology to expand her skills and interests in dermatology. Her research focuses on alopecia, quality improvement, and increasing diversity in medicine. Her passion is to provide equitable, culturally competent care and improve the health of populations made vulnerable. Tiara attends the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine as a medical student and has applied for a dermatology residency. She hopes to continue her work as a dermatologist and skilled researcher.
