Wenqin Luo, PhD
Associate Professor
Department of Neuroscience
Perelman School of Medicine
About the Lab:
Dr. Luo’s research focuses on the neurobiology of somatosensation, including the expression of touch, pain and itch. The lab focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying these circuits, using the mouse as a model organism, and the molecular and circuit level changes that are associated with the manifestation of pathological conditions of pain often seen in human disease. Dr. Luo also collaborates with fellow T32 Trainers Drs. Pantelis Rompolas and Vivian Lee, on somatosensation and corneal innervation for which they were recently awarded a U01 from the National Eye Institute.
Training Information:
The alumni of Dr. Luo’s lab have gone on to successful careers in research, and her lab is actively recruiting similarly dedicated and motivated individuals. Dr. Luo’s lab currently consists of two predoctoral trainees and two postdoctoral fellows, as well as several masters-level graduate students and research assistants. Almost all of Dr. Luo’s prior predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees have continued in research or related careers.
