Biography

Temitayo Ogunleye, MD, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Associate Director of Diversity and Inclusion at the Dermatology Department, and Associate Director of the Pre-Residency Fellowship in Skin of Color Program. The Pre-Residency Fellowship in Skin of Color Program is a research and mentorship opportunity for fourth-year medical students who are underrepresented minorities in medicine (URiM).

Dr. Ogunleye earned her BS at the University of Pittsburgh and her MD at the University of Pennsylvania. She interned at Albert Einstein Medical Center and completed her Dermatology residency at the University of Michigan Hospital System. After completing her Clinical-Educator fellowship research at Penn, she became an Assistant Professor and is now an Associate Professor of Clinical Dermatology. Dr. Ogunleye leads numerous initiatives focused on encouraging diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare through her roles as the Associate Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Director of the Penn URiM Visiting Clerkship Program, and the Associate Director of the Pre-Residency Fellowship in Skin of Color Program.

Dr. Ogunleye is devoted to mentorship and teaching, mentoring students and faculty alike. She has earned recognition for her mentorship, such as serving as mentor for the North American Hair Research Society Mentorship Award in 2023, and for her teaching winning the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award (2022) and the Edward Bondi Dermatology Teaching Award (2021, 2022).

Dr. Ogunleye is an expert in skin of color, hair disorders, and skin pigmentation, having published in highly esteemed journals such as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and JAMA Dermatology.
