Congratulations to our 2024 Dermatology Foundation Award Recipients!
Each year the Dermatology Foundation (DF) demonstrates its commitment to furthering both innovative skin research and the careers of promising young researchers. For almost 60 years the DP has been sponsoring skin research, and currently supports 16 research award categories spanning basic, translational, and clinical research through multiple funding mechanisms.
The various DF research grants and Career Development Awards (CDA) are an invaluable tool for launching independent research careers of Dermatology’s talented Trainees. The Department of Dermatology at Penn is committed to training the next generation of skin researchers, and supporting our trainees on their path to independence is part of our mission. Last year the T32 Training program debuted a grant writing workshop in the fall, designed to provide personalized feedback for trainees submitting DF, NIH and other grants. We are excited to note that every trainee that participated in the workshop, had their DF application funded.
This year nine trainees were awarded Dermatology Foundation funding, and Dr. Junko Takeshita is in Year 2 of her mid-career award.
