Are you interested in learning about what scientists and clinicians do in the field of dermatology? Want to gain experience conducting research in Penn laboratories? Are you a 10-12th grade Philadelphia public or charter school student? If so, the Penn Academy for Skin Health (PASH) is for you!  

Engage with scientists and clinicians in the dermatology field

  • Learn laboratory techniques directly from Penn researchers
  • Perform laboratory experiments using state-of-the-art research equipment
  • Discover genetic and environmental-based dermatologic diseases
  • Network with Penn faculty and staff to learn about careers in both research and medicine
  • Participate in a College 101 workshop

Join the PASH 2024 Program – We are now accepting applications!  

PASH will run 4 consecutive Saturdays (March 2, 9, 16, and 23) from 9am-1pm each day at the University of Pennsylvania. 10-12th graders in Philadelphia public and charter schools can apply.

Participants must be able to attend all four sessions of the workshop to be eligible for the paid summer internship. 

Proof of full COVID vaccination will be required before the start of the Saturday sessions. If you need assistance in getting your vaccination, please email Tarence Smith at psom-outreach@pennmedicine.upenn.edu.

How do I apply? 

Step 1: Fill out the application form found HERE, including the short essay questions. You may use this form for our online submission and can edit it until the application deadline.

*We have volunteers that can proof your essay responses. If you are interested in using this resource please send your draft essay responses (word document) to psom-outreach@pennmedicine.upenn.edu no later than a week before applications close.  

Step 2: Recommendations from teachers or mentors are required via a brief survey found HERE. This should take your recommender no more than 10 minutes to complete. No formal letters will be accepted.

Notification of acceptance – February 9, 2024
